little boy was spending his Saturday morning playing in his sandbox. He
had with him his box of cars and trucks, his plastic pail, and a shiny,
red plastic shovel. In the process of creating roads and tunnels in the
soft sand, he discovered a large rock in the middle of the sandbox.

boy dug around the rock, managing to dislodge it from the dirt. With a
little bit of struggle, he pushed and nudged the rock across the
sandbox by using his feet. (He was a very small boy, and the rock was
very large.) When the boy got the rock to the edge of the sandbox
however, he found that he couldn't roll it up and over the little wall.

the little boy shoved, pushed, and pried, but every time he thought he
had made some progress, the rock tipped and then fell back into the
sandbox. The little boy grunted, struggled, pushed, & shoved; but

Carrots, Eggs, or Coffee

twinklegarima's picture

A young woman went to her grandmother and
told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did
not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was
tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved,
a new one would pop up.

Her grandmother took her to the kitchen.
She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire, and
soon the pots came to boil. In the first pot she placed carrots, in the
second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans.
She let them sit and boil; without saying a word. In about twenty
minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and
placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a
bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her granddaughter, she asked, "Tell me what you see."

twinklegarima's picture

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: 'I am blind, please help.' There were only a few coins in the hat.

man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped
them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote
some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would
see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more
people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who
had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized
his footsteps and asked, 'Were you the one who changed my sign this
morning? What did you write?'

The man said, 'I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.'

The Vessel

twinklegarima's picture

The Master was searching for a vessel to use; On the shelf there were
many - which one would He choose? "Take me", cried the gold one, "I'm
shiny and bright, I'm of great value and I do things just right. My
beauty and luster will outshine the rest And for someone like You,
Master, gold would be the best!"

The Master passed on with
no word at all; He looked at a silver urn, narrow and tall; "I'll serve
You, dear Master, I'll pour out Your drink, and I'll be at Your table
whenever You dine, My lines are so graceful, my carvings so true, And
my silver will always compliment You."

Unheeding the
Master passed on to the brass, It was wide mouthed and shallow, and
polished like glass. "Here! Here!" cried the vessel, "I know I will do,
Place me on Your table for all men to view."

"Look at me",
called the goblet of crystal so clear, "My transparency shows my

MAN v/s WOMAN ღ•

arunim's picture

“Male and female represent the two sides of the great radical dualism. But in fact they are perpetually passing into one another. Fluid hardens to solid, solid rushes to fluid. There is no wholly masculine man, no purely feminine woman.
~Margaret Fuller (1810 - 1850)”

Oh, life is a glorious cycle of song,
A medley of extemporanea;
And love is a thing that can never go wrong;
And I am Marie of Romania.
